The third season of Theater in Hamlin Park opens July 23, 2022 with:
THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW, by John Heimbuch and John Ferguson, based on Washington Irving’s classic tale.
AUDITIONS: March 21st and 23rd at 7:00 PM at Aurora Players Roycroft Pavilion. Call backs on March 24th if needed. Please note that proof of Covid-19 vaccination is required in order to audition.
Rehearsals will begin May 2 and run through opening night on July 23. The majority of rehearsals will take place at Nativity Lutheran Church on Main Street in East Aurora or, weather permitting, rehearsals will be at the outdoor stage at the Roycroft Pavilion. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow will be performed July 23-24, 30-31, August 6-7, 13-14, 2022.

Play Synopsis
In the quaint village of Sleepy Hollow, stories of wonder and strangeness surround the legend of a mighty headless Hessian. When the humble schoolteacher Ichabod Crane vies for the hand of the beautiful Katrina Van Tassel, the townsfolk might protest, but it is ultimately the Horseman who will decide his fate.
CAST – CHARACTERS AND DESCRIPTIONS
ICHABOD CRANE:* Male, early 30s. Connecticut schoolmaster. Tall and lanky with an enormous appetite. Extremely superstitious. Confident in his belief that he is the most suitable bachelor for Katrina Van Tassel.
KATRINA VAN TASSEL:* Female, early 20s. Beautiful, independent and flirtatious only daughter of Baltus von Tassel. She’s not as dim-witted as she seems and enjoys being the object of men’s affections and playing hard to get.
BROM BONES:* Male, 20s to 30s. Muscular, mischievous local celebrity. Lover of practical jokes and the frontrunner in the line of suitors in pursuit of the hand of Katrina Van Tassel. Believes in brawn and beauty over brains any day.
BALTUS VON TASSEL: Male, 40s to 50s. Wealthy Dutch Farmer. Leader in the community. Protective father of Katrina Van Tassel.
PARSON VON HOUTON: Male/female, 302 to 50s. Local person of faith in Sleepy Hollow.
HANS VAN RIPPER: Male, 20s to 40s. Local farmer. Ichabod’s landlord and owner of Ichabod’s horse Gunpowder.
Villagers/Students/Sleepy Hollow Boys/Country Girls/Old Women/Sleepy
Hollow Ghosts: Six individuals of any gender and age will make up the population of Sleepy Hollow and be primarily responsible for telling and acting out several stories throughout the production, including several ghost stories based on Sleepy Hollow folklore.
*The roles of Ichabod, Katrina and Brom Bones will NOT Double up. All other roles may be played by anyone in the ensemble.*
NOTE: Several characters will be required to sing.
