Live performing arts were greatly affected by the shutdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic from early 2020 through the first half of 2021. For Aurora Players, almost 19 months will have passed between the closing of Bus Stop on March 14, 2020 and the debut of HAIR on October 1, 2021. But like millions of Western New Yorkers, we did our best to adapt to the “new normal”. Board meetings, membership meetings, and even our annual membership banquet were held via Zoom. We produced two video readings: A Christmas Carol in December 2020 and Alice in Wonderland in January/February 2021, as well as a five-week Actors Workshop in late spring. Over a 10-month period, dedicated volunteers undertook a major refurbishment of our backstage facilities, including an exciting new orchestra loft off stage right.
We want all of our patrons, members, volunteers, cast and crew to feel worry-free from the moment they enter the Historic Roycroft Pavilion to enjoy or participate in an Aurora Players production. That is why we are following all CDC and New York State health guidelines for reopening. Additionally, we have invested in an upgraded air filtration system and engaged a trusted, professional janitorial service to clean and disinfect the entire premises following each performance.
These measures have increased our costs significantly, yet our ticket prices will remain unchanged. Instead, we ask that you consider joining other supporters in Western New York by becoming a Member or Patron of Aurora Players. In return you will receive many benefits, including advance notice of upcoming productions and auditions, our SRO newsletter and, depending on your Patron Level, free and discounted tickets. Become a Member or Patron today and start enjoying the benefits!
Aurora Players is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation that was established in 1941. Our purpose is to create interest in, and to foster enthusiasm for, the study and execution of the dramatic arts; to provide a medium of expression for those who have a natural love for the theatre in any of its phases; and to be the means of bringing together, in organized activities, all those whose interests center in drama and the performing arts.
