Aurora Players Pre-ProjectSTAGE (AP PPS)

Discover the Magic of Theatre!

Does your child love to pretend, tell stories, or perform for family and friends? Aurora Players is excited to introduce Pre-ProjectSTAGE (AP PPS)—a brand-new theatre program created especially for children in Grades 1–4 who are just beginning their theatrical journey.

Developed by actor and director, Charlotte Von Adler (BIO below), this fun, engaging four-week pilot program introduces young performers to the fundamentals of theatre through creative games, movement, imagination, and teamwork. No previous theatre experience is required!

What Will Students Learn?

Pre-ProjectSTAGE focuses on building confidence while teaching the basic skills every young performer needs. Students will explore:

  • Theatre games and creative play
  • Puppetry
  • Mime
  • Stage areas and simple blocking
  • Listening and following directions
  • Voice projection and speaking with confidence
  • Facial expressions and emotions
  • Working together as an ensemble
  • Expressing ideas through movement and imagination

Our goal is to help every child feel comfortable expressing themselves, collaborating with others, and having fun on stage in a welcoming, low-pressure environment.

Program Founder and Director Charlotte Von Adler

Charlotte Von Adler is an educator, director, and performer. As an educator, she has led over 100 workshops with Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT), the largest touring children’s theatre in the world. During her time with MCT, Charlotte directed and performed in more than 50 musical productions featuring large casts of students ages 5-17, preparing them for the stage in just five days.

Charlotte also worked as a professional actor with Bright Star Touring Theatre, performing two-person educational and improvisational productions for audiences of all ages. While touring as an actor, she spearheaded a specialty touring program across Nevada, managing every aspect of production, from outreach, marketing and booking to performance.

Upon returning to Western New York and her hometown of East Aurora, Charlotte began her work with Aurora Players through Theatre in Hamlin Park productions of The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, in which she performed as the titular character, and The Hobbit, for which she served as assistant director, stage manager and performer. The latter show drew record-breaking audiences and received 10 TANYS (Theater Association of New York State) awards. She now serves as a lead teaching artist at Buffalo Theatre of Youth, where she has directed, choreographed and co-created dozens of original productions with her students. Charlotte also teaches children’s theatre at the Boys & Girls Club of East Aurora and Second Generation Theatre in Buffalo. She offers private music and drama lessons to students throughout the greater Buffalo area.

Outside her work in theatre, Charlotte enjoys making music, volunteering, and exploring local restaurants and libraries. She believes there is always room for curiosity, creativity, and a healthy dose of silliness.
