Into the Woods Earns Thirteen Awards from the Theatre Association of New York State
Sunday, October 23, 2022 marked the final performance for Aurora Players’ production of Into the Woods.
During the run, a representative from the Theatre Association of New York State (TANYS) attended to conduct an adjudication of the performance. The production ultimately earned thirteen awards across multiple categories. These awards will be presented at the Rome Community Theater (Rome, NY) during the 2022 TANYS Festival.
Award distinctions are:
Meritorious Achievement = Some advanced theatrical skill noted
Excellence = Theatrical skill base not routinely noted in non-professional theatre
Outstanding Achievement = Theatrical skill base rarely seen in non-professional theatre
The awards are as follows:
- Outstanding Achievement in Production Concept and Execution to Joel Murphy
- Excellence in Technical Work to Michael Wier for the creation of Milky White
- Excellence in Costuming to Kimberly Hicks, Nancy Johnson and crew
- Excellence in Lighting Design and Execution to Ruth Strzelewicz and Lowell Sylwester
- Excellence in the Creation and operation of the Shadow Puppets to Chris Fire
- Meritorious Achievement in Set Design and Execution to David Hall, Joel Murphy, Mark Sebastian and Michael Weir
- Meritorious Achievement in Musical Direction and Accompaniment to Paul Blackwell and Madeline Harts
- Excellence in Acting to Madeline Rehm as Little Red Ridinghood
- Excellence in Ensemble Acting to the Company
- Excellence in Ensemble Chemistry to Jason Gonser and Eric T. Glynn as the Princes
- Meritorious Achievement in Acting to Rebecca Runge as the Witch
- Meritorious Achievement in Acting to Nathan Andrew Miller as the Baker
- Meritorious Achievement in Stage Management to Renee Ronan for the choreography and execution of the scene changes
