Audition for Neil Simon’s RUMORS

 

Auditions for Rumors will be held on October 24-26 from 7-9 PM.

Location: Roycroft Pavilion – 166 S. Grove Street, in East Aurora, NY.

Show Dates: March 10-12, 17-19, & 24-26, 2023 at the Roycroft Pavilion in East Aurora, NY.

 

Synopsis: At a large, tastefully-appointed Sneden’s Landing townhouse, the Deputy Mayor of New York has just shot himself. Though only a flesh wound, four couples are about to experience a severe attack of Farce. Gathering for their tenth wedding anniversary, the host lies bleeding in the other room, and his wife is nowhere in sight. His lawyer, Ken, and wife, Chris, must get “the story” straight before the other guests arrive. As the confusions and miscommunications mount, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity.

Roles Needed:

Looking for a cast of people who can play mid-thirties to mid-fifties. Looking for an ensemble that has the chemistry to pull off a fast-paced farce.

Chris Gorman – Wife of Ken Gorman; contract lawyer for a publishing house; well put together, at least on the outside. 

Ken Gorman – Husband of Chris Gorman;  Lawyer for the Deputy Mayor, Charley Brock; always the constant professional trying to help clean up his friend’s mess.

Claire Ganz – Wife of Lenny Ganz; both have been in an accident on the way to the dinner party. 

Lenny Ganz – Husband of Claire Ganz; accountant and financial businessman; has just been in a car accident and is not able to move his neck.

Cookie Cusack – Wife of Ernie Cusack; has a bad back; elected cook of the evening and all the mess that may entail. 

Ernie Cusack – Husband of Cookie Cusack; therapist by trade and may be analyzing the situation; keeps getting calls interrupting the dinner party.

Cassie Cooper – Wife of Glenn Cooper. She is rather upset with Glenn during the party because he may be misbehaving outside the marriage.

Glenn Cooper – Husband of Cassie Cooper. He is trying to reassure his wife she is the only one for him, but is she really?

Officer Welsh – Male; a no-nonsense officer that is summoned to the neighborhood to find out about all the commotion.

Officer Pudney – Female; fellow office of Officer Welsh who tried to be the peacekeeper while keeping order over the matter.
