What do you get when you mix equal parts of slob and neat-freak, a dash of hormones, and bake in a Manhattan apartment for three weeks? The Odd Couple, Female Version. Florence Unger, shattered by her husband's sudden demand for divorce, turns to her friends for support. The consummate homemaker, Florence is "adopted" by her friend, Olive Madison, who has also recently divorced. She lives in an apartment decorated by Hurricane Katrina and the NYC Department of Sanitation. Their three weeks of cohabitation are an American comedy-of-manners, as each rubs the other the wrong way - in as many ways as possible. In the end, they avoid manslaughter - and learn something about themselves in the process.
Director Mark Eckstein was a theater/music "geek" throughout high school, then took some years off for college, grad school and adulthood. Failing at the last, he joined a production of The Mikado, and has been "a-theatering" eevr since. Mark has directed five shows for WCBS Players, one of which, Physical Therapy, received the Ensemble Acting Award from TANYS. He met his wife, Mary, through WCBS; both have appeared with Aurora Players. Mark also sings baritone with the Genesee Chorale.
