The Pajama Game is a Tony Award winning musical based on the novel 7-1/2 Cents by Richard Bissell, featuring a score by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross. The story: labor troubles in a pajama factory lead to unreast, as worker demands for a seven-and-a-half-cents raise go unheeded. Sid, the handsome new manager, runs afoul of feisty and headstrong Babe, leader of the Union Grievance Committee. Their dispute is complicated by a budding romance, which parallels the ups and downs of the labor/management negotiations. Standards from this show include Steam Heat, Once-A-Year-Day, and Hernando’s Hideaway.

A long-time member of Aurora Players, director Teresa Gallagher takes on her first musical-comedy. Her premiere role with AP was Mary MacGregor in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. She appeared in Crimes of the Heart, Witness for the Prosecution (Best Supporting Actress Award), and Lost in Yonkers (Best Actress Award). She also directed On Golden Pond, Wait Until Dark, Cheaper By the Dozen, and most recently, Born Yesterday (2008), all for AP.

Noted local musician Bob Sowyrda again assumes the mantle of music director for this production. Prior roles with AP included musician and actor.

Renée Obringer returns to choreograph this show; she most recently had that role for AP’s hilarious A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.
