Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime is based on an 1890's story by Oscar Wilde about Lord Arthur Savile who is engaged to lovely Sybil Merton. Her mother’s pet chiromantist, Podgers, has read Lord Arthur's palm and foretold he would commit a murder one day. Desiring a blissful marriage, Lord Arthur feels duty bound to commit the murder before his wedding. Unfortunately, he has neither a victim or a method. Despite help from his butler and the cheerful anarchist Winkelkopf, attempt after attempt fails, usually at Lord Arthur’s expense. After news comes that Podgers is a charlatan, Lord Arthur is free, but the carriage that awaits to take him to the wedding rehearsal contains Winkelkopf's newest bomb, and Lord Arthur’s marriage is once more in question.
