And Then There Were None

March 9 – 11, 16 - 18 & 23 - 25, 2018

by Agatha Christie
Director: Joel Murphy

Ten strangers are summoned to a remote island. All that the guests have in common is a wicked past they're unwilling to reveal and a secret that will seal their fate. For each has been marked for murder. As the weather turns and the group is cut off from the mainland, the trouble begins and one by one they are murdered in accordance with the lines of a sinister nursery rhyme.
One of Christie’s darkest tales and a masterpiece of dramatic construction, its growing sense of dread and unfaltering tension will keep you guessing to the very end.

Joel first became interested in directing while taking a high school film class, and he went on to enjoy directing through animation in college.  It wasn't until after college when Joel was getting back into theater that he realized this could be a platform for his creative visions.  While in the production of Grease, directed by David Hall, Joel was inspired by some of David’s choices such as: his use of an abstract background including stacked records which created different leveled platforms, and a catwalk masked with a scrim.  Joel found David’s choices to be quite strategic to staging a great visual, in addition to creating a mood for the show.  A lesson Joel had the privilege of realizing early in life is that if you ever have the opportunity to learn from someone who's passionate about what they do, don't let that opportunity escape.  Joel went on to Assistant Direct with David Hall in Lancaster Regional Player's Boys Next Door.  Joel then directed Lancaster Regional Player's The Foreigner, assistant directed Aurora Player's Little Shop of Horrors, and co-directed Lancaster Regional Player's Dracula.
